Sell-back, vault, shipping and eligibility compared

These four terms decide what a pull is actually worth to you: how much cash or credit you get if you sell it back, how long you can leave it in the platform's vault before it's sold for you, what it costs to get the real card in your hands, and whether you can play from your state at all.

Explainer

How card rips work

A rip is a digital pack opening that ends with a physical card. The flow is the same on every platform in our Top 5:

  1. Pick a pack. Each pack page lists its price and the odds of landing in each value band or rarity tier. Prices run from a few dollars to several thousand.
  2. Pay. Most platforms charge US dollars; Ripz.gg sells Gems, its own currency, which you spend on packs.
  3. Rip. The reveal shows which card you pulled and the platform's fair market value (FMV) for it.
  4. Decide. Sell it back for the offer shown, keep it in the vault, or request shipping. Some vaults are free with no time limit; others sell the card back for you after a few days.
  5. Cash out or collect. Withdraw sell-back proceeds where the platform allows it, or receive the graded slab or raw card by mail after an ID check.

Key terms

  • Fair market value (FMV): the platform's own estimate of a card's price, usually based on recent sales. Each platform sets it with its own method.
  • Sell-back rate: the share of FMV the platform pays to buy the card back. 100% of FMV is the best rate you'll see; 85–90% is common.
  • Cash vs credit: withdrawable cash is worth more than store credit or Gems you can only spend on more packs.
  • Graded vs raw: graded cards come sealed in a slab with a grade from a company such as PSA, BGS or CGC; raw cards are ungraded.
  • Odds tiers: the published chance of pulling a card within each value range. Read them before you buy: the top tier is often under 1%.

Free packs and welcome offers

"Free packs" is one of the most searched rip topics this month. Here is what each platform offers new users on its own pages:

  • Crown Rips: Claim a free pack.
  • Tilt Rips: Up to 200% welcome bonus + free pack (advertised; terms not published).
  • Rips by Triumph: no welcome offer found on its official pages.
  • Packz: $100 Sweat-Free first pack.
  • Ripz.gg: First chest free.

No promo code is needed for any of them. Offers change often: the profile above shows the date we last checked.

How to choose a rip platform

  • Want cash back? Look for a high sell-back rate paid as withdrawable cash, and fast withdrawal methods.
  • Want to collect? Pick a long or unlimited vault and clear shipping fees, so you aren't forced to sell.
  • Want to verify every pull? Choose a provably fair platform.
  • Outside the big catalogs? Check the product line: some platforms carry only Pokémon and TCGs, others add sports cards.

Methodology

How we rank rip platforms

We read each platform's terms of use, FAQ, help center and app-store listing, and record every fact with its source and the date we checked it. We compare sell-back rate and payout type, vault limits, shipping cost and speed, state and age eligibility, odds transparency and the welcome offer. If a platform doesn't publish something, we say "Not verified" instead of guessing.

Placement on this page, including the featured partner banner and the Top 5 order, can also reflect commercial partnerships. See our affiliate disclosure.

FAQ

Card rips FAQ

What is a rips pack?

A rips pack is a digital pack you buy online or in an app. Opening it ("ripping") reveals a real trading card drawn at random from the platform's stock, usually a Pokémon or sports card, often graded. You then sell it back for credit or cash, keep it in a vault, or have it shipped to you.

Are rip sites legit?

The five platforms here are run by named companies and publish their terms of use. Each profile above lists the operator, how odds are shown and how sell-back works, taken from the platform's own terms and help pages.

Are card rips legal in my state?

Platforms describe pack purchases as sales of physical cards, and each sets its own eligibility. Crown Rips, Rips by Triumph and Packz exclude Nevada. Tilt Rips and Ripz.gg publish no US state list, so we mark them "Not verified". Use the state map above to check yours.

What is sell-back on a rip app?

Sell-back (or buyback) is the platform's offer to buy the card you just pulled, as a share of its own fair market value estimate. Rates and payment differ: some pay withdrawable cash, others pay credit or in-app currency only. The comparison table shows each platform's terms.

Are there free packs or promo codes?

4 of the 5 platforms advertise a welcome offer: Crown Rips (Claim a free pack); Tilt Rips (Up to 200% welcome bonus + free pack); Packz ($100 Sweat-Free first pack); Ripz.gg (First chest free). None of them requires a promo code on its official pages.

Can you make money ripping packs?

Don't count on it. Packs are priced so that many pulls are worth less than you paid, and sell-back rates below 100% lower the return further. Treat rips as entertainment with a fixed budget.

What does provably fair mean?

A provably fair system publishes a scrambled (hashed) version of the random seed before you open a pack, then reveals the seed afterwards so you can check the result wasn't changed. It proves the draw wasn't altered; it doesn't prove the odds are generous.

How old do you have to be?

18 or older on all five platforms, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. Expect an ID check before your first withdrawal or shipment.
